Skyrim Comes to Apple Silicon Macs With SkyrimMT

Skyrim never officially came to the Mac, and Boot Camp is gone on Apple silicon. A new open-source, unofficial app called SkyrimMT wants to fix that.

What it does

  • Automated setup installs the compatibility bits and walks you through Steam and installing your copy. It supports Special and Anniversary Editions.
  • A native mod manager handles Nexus Mods, Nexus Collections, Wabbajack modlists and Mod Organizer 2 imports, plus SKSE and SkyUI.
  • Mod profiles, conflict checks, load-order sorting and snapshots.
  • Under the hood it’s Wine plus DXMT translating Direct3D 11 to Metal.
  • Needs macOS Ventura 13 or later, about 25GB free, and a Steam copy.

My take

Fus Ro Dah on an M-series Mac. Love it.

Have a blessed day! And Happy Hacking!
