Phoronix has the first Linux benchmarks of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme, using the new Ubuntu 26.10 X1E Concept ISO on an ASUS Zenbook A16.
The quick version
- The chip is an 18-core X2E96100 with up to 5.0GHz single-core boost, here paired with 48GB of LPDDR5-9523.
- Performance is better than expected for such a fresh platform.
- Caveats: it’s a remote test, some benchmarks didn’t run, and there’s no power data because Linux doesn’t report Snapdragon X power metrics yet.
My take
ARM Linux laptops keep getting more real. With Omarchy shipping aarch64 ISOs for Snapdragon X machines, I’m watching this closely. Battery numbers are the next big question.
Have a blessed day! And Happy Hacking!
