What’s New in Claude Code 2.1.307 and 2.1.308

Two more Claude Code releases landed October 21 and 22.

2.1.307 highlights

• /claude-api api-version moves your Claude API code to API version 2026-10-21.
• A new claude_code.safety_event OpenTelemetry event whenever a permission rule, auto mode, safety check, hook or the sandbox stops or prompts a tool call.
• Fixed model-not-found errors with CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_1M_CONTEXT and [1m] aliases.
• MCP fixes: a locked macOS keychain now explains itself, servers recover after sleep, and HTTP tool calls aren’t sent twice (only read-only or idempotent tools retry).
• Fewer “Autocompact is thrashing” errors on big PDFs and images, and /clear stays cleared in cloud sessions.

The safety_event telemetry is great if you want to see what your guardrails actually catch.
