Chainalysis, the blockchain analytics firm police and exchanges use to trace crypto, disclosed that an outside attacker used what it calls “offensive agentic techniques” to get into its internal systems and tools earlier this month.
What was exposed
- User IDs, full names, email addresses and organizational role labels for people provisioned on the platform.
- So far there’s no evidence that investigation content, credentials or session tokens were touched.
- Chainalysis says it’s unrelated to the Binance theft. It’s working with outside experts and using LLMs in its own security review.
Customers should turn on 2FA, watch for unexpected password resets, and ignore anyone “from Chainalysis” offering fund recovery or jobs.
My take
“Agentic” is now showing up in breach notices, not just product launches. Attackers are running agents too, and they don’t get tired. Phishing will follow this leak, so the scam warning is the part to take seriously.
God Bless, and Use the Source!
