Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman thinks Apple will eventually build its high-end MacBook Pro lineup around touchscreen models only. MacRumors summarized his Power On newsletter.
The rumor
- Right now the mini-LED M5 Pro and M5 Max models sit next to the new touch OLED ones, which cost $400 more
- Running two lines costs a lot to develop, build and market, so Gurman expects them to merge. No timeline
- Another touch generation with M7 Pro and M7 Max is planned for 2027, and the base 14-inch gets a thinner, lighter M7 redesign
My take
This is a rumor, so take it that way. If you want a high-end Mac without a touchscreen, the current mini-LED models might be the last ones.
God Bless, and Happy hacking!
