The Wind You Can’t See on the Network Map

I spend a lot of my life staring at networks. Routes. Nodes. Latency graphs. You can map almost anything these days. You still cannot put the Holy Spirit on a traceroute. That is not a bug in the monitoring stack. That is theology.

On October 10, the Fire Conference in Bradford, UK leaned into that Acts 2 language — wind and fire, the sound of Heaven interrupting ordinary people. I was not in the room. I still recognize the pattern from Scripture and from nights when God has moved in places nobody booked on a tour calendar.

“And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind… And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them” (Acts 2:2–3). Suddenly. Not after three more planning meetings. The Spirit decides when the wind hits. Our job is readiness, not control.

Jesus told Nicodemus the wind blows where it wishes — you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes (John 3:8). That verse should humble every conference organizer and every blogger with a take. We can host. We cannot manufacture Pentecost.

Stay ready

Conferences can be fuel. They are not the fire itself. If you left Bradford (or watched from somewhere else) with fresh hunger, guard it. Open the Word. Pray in the Spirit. Expect God to move in your actual workplace and kitchen, not only under stage lights. The network map will never show that wind. Your life might. That is the point.

I am not chasing a dopamine hit from big rooms. I want the fruit of the Spirit in ordinary people — love, joy, peace, patience — showing up after the livestream ends. That is how I measure whether Heaven moved, not the camera angles.

Have a blessed day!
