Two Mac-shaped rumors showed up in the same OmarchyCentral roundup. First, X user StudioXRadio claimed Omarchy runs fully on an M4 MacBook Air, with a repo “to follow.” Second, fingerprint unlock for Omarchy on the Mac was described as in progress after posts around October 9–10. Both are community reports. Neither is an official Omarchy release announcement, and I will not elevate them to facts.
How I am filing this
Interesting. Not proven. Preview tracks already opened a careful Apple Silicon path with hard limits — preview is not release, and M3 itself came with GPU and upgrade caveats. An M4 “fully runs” claim needs hardware lists, install docs, and a tree you can clone — not a screenshot thread. Fingerprint unlock would be a real daily-driver win if it lands, especially if it stays out of the sudo foot-guns we have already seen on the Windows trial side.
What would change my mind
An omarchy.org news post, a tagged release, or a public repo with support matrices. Until then I will keep M4 and Touch ID-style unlock in the “watch the channel” bucket. Lab curiosity is fine. Betting a work laptop on an unverified claim is how you spend a weekend restoring from backup while pretending it was a learning experience.
I will keep these notes short and factual on purpose. Omarchy moves fast, community blogs move faster, and my job on this site is to separate “interesting rumor” from “I would put it on a machine I care about.” When official docs catch up, the tone can get firmer.
If you are testing any of this, snapshot first. Rollback plans are part of loving your future self.
Have a blessed day!
