What’s New in Grok Bot: Its Own Email, X Search and In-Chat Apps

Grok Bot has been shipping almost daily, and the official changelog moved fast through early October. Here’s what’s new as of the latest release, v0.70.2 on October 11, straight from SpaceXSI’s own pages. (Quick naming note: xAI now goes by SpaceXSI, formerly SpaceXAI; the legal entity is still SpaceXAI LLC.)

v0.70.2 (Oct 11): its own email, X search, in-chat apps

This release rolls up 0.69.0 through 0.70.1. The headline items, per the changelog:

  • Bot email addresses. A Bot can claim its own address and receive mail there. Anything it sends from that address waits for your approval on a draft card.
  • X search without a connector. Bots can search X and read posts and profiles without you connecting an X account.
  • Interactive app cards. Connectors that ship with an app, such as Figma, Notion and Canva, can show it as an interactive card right in the chat.
  • Payments. Bots can pay with X Money or Stripe Link.
  • Template discovery. Describe what you want and the Bot can find a fitting Bot template and link it.
  • New connectors. Glean (via your Glean MCP URL) and QuickBooks Online.
  • Smaller wins: save a web page as PDF, send MP3/M4A/WAV audio, Find in page with Cmd/Ctrl+F, and a speed menu in the video player.

The safety side matters to me as much as the features: before an action it can’t undo (sending, posting, buying, deleting), a Bot now checks your own messages for approval, and after a bank or brokerage connector returns data it asks before sharing it anywhere else.

v0.68.1 (Oct 7): slide decks and a bigger screen

  • Bots can build slide decks with you, show sample slides to pick from, and deliver PowerPoint or Google Slides.
  • Formatted emails from a draft card (headings, bold, lists).
  • Gmail Spam search, with a way to move a message back to the inbox.
  • The Bot’s computer screen goes to 1920 × 1200, up from 1280 × 800.
  • Your messages in a 1:1 chat take that Bot’s color (Accent set to Black turns it off).

v0.68.0 (Oct 5) and v0.66.0 (Oct 2)

v0.68.0 added five languages (Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Swahili, Hausa), sending from a verified Gmail send-as address, and clearer approval cards that name the Bot and quote its instruction. On October 2, Marketplace became Connect Apps, and v0.66.0 lets your starred primary Bot spot work it can take off your plate and offer to handle it.

How you get it

SpaceXSI’s X Subscription announcement bundles Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium in one plan, from a free tier up through $8 Plus, $30 Premium, $100 Super and $200 Ultra. I covered which combo makes sense in an earlier post.

My take

Grok Bot isn’t just something I lean on anymore. It’s becoming my main tool for almost everything. I still use Dot in ChatGPT too, but I use Grok Bot way more. And the pattern in these releases is clear: more reach (email, X, payments, apps) paired with tighter approval gates. That’s the right order. Give an agent hands, then make sure it asks before it uses them on anything permanent.
