700 Decisions at App State: UniteUS and the Spirit on Campus

Another campus. Same hunger. UniteUS visited Appalachian State University this week, and the report from God Reports (via UniteUS to CBN News) is hard to shrug off: more than 700 students deciding to follow Jesus, and about 100 baptized on the spot at the Holmes Convocation Center.

The Spirit still gathers students

I am a charismatic believer. I do not treat “campus revival” as a marketing label. When Tonya Prewett and Jennie Allen preach the Gospel and students walk into the water the same night, I hear Pentecost’s promise still ringing: God pours out His Spirit on all flesh (Acts 2:17). Different building. Same Helper. The wind of God has never needed a branded stage to move — only open hearts.

Baptism is not a photo op. Jesus said to make disciples and baptize them (Matthew 28:19). Public confession still matters: “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). Students posting that nothing is more beautiful than watching people declare faith through baptism — that is fruit language, not hype language. Peter’s call still lands the same way: repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:38).

What I am watching next

UniteUS has been on this trail since Auburn in September 2023 — dozens of campuses, more than 100,000 students touched by the ministry’s own count. This fall already includes Pepperdine and Miami. Next stops on the calendar: University of South Alabama on October 27, then Belmont University in Nashville on November 10.

Attendance numbers will trend for a day. I am watching the quieter part — who keeps praying, who finds a local church, who still carries the Spirit’s fire when the arena lights go out. Pray for App State. Pray for South Alabama and Belmont. The wind of God is not done with universities.

Have a blessed day!
