Most of Omarchy’s ~6.2s loader time was Limine sitting on the boot menu. PR #15301, authored by DHH and merged October 14, 2026 into quattro, sets timeout: 1 and quiet: yes so the menu wait collapses to one second and the boot stays silent unless you hit a key.
How you get the menu back
Quiet boot is useless if you cannot reach firmware choices when you need them. The same PR adds System → Reboot to Boot Menu (omarchy system reboot-boot-menu), which runs systemctl reboot --boot-loader-menu=0 so Limine shows the menu regardless of quiet mode. Migrations only rewrite installs that do not already have an uncommented user timeout: — your custom timeout stays.
Omarchy Central covered the same change. I care about this as a daily-driver detail: less staring at a menu you never pick, without losing an escape hatch when a kernel experiment goes sideways.
Upgrade note
After you pull the next quattro bits, do one real reboot and confirm keypress-reveal still works on your machine. Static tests passed in the PR; hardware still gets the final vote. Fast boots are nice. Recoverable boots are mandatory.
If you dual-boot or regularly pick alternate kernels, learn the new Reboot to Boot Menu path once so you are not stuck inventing EFI key spam at 6 a.m. One-second quiet boot is the default win; the menu escape hatch is the ops win.
Side effect I like: quieter boots make failed boots more obvious. If the machine hangs before the desktop, you notice sooner — and you already know how to summon Limine without memorizing vendor EFI keys.
Have a blessed day!
