ABUS Gives Omarchy Agents Their Own Mailbox and Message Bus

Here’s a fresh Omarchy plugin for anyone running more than one AI agent. Following DHH’s idea of networking agents across Omarchy machines, corelumen released ABUS, an “Omarchy agent bus and mailbox.”

What it does

  • Durable inboxes, so a message to an agent sticks around until that agent picks it up.
  • Explicit agent registration, so agents can discover each other instead of guessing.
  • A tight bridge to Herdr, plus Tailscale Serve for agent-to-agent messages across your machines.
  • Every message leaves a record you can inspect later. It all lives inside the Omarchy shell.
  • It’s MIT licensed and brand new. The repo went up on October 20.

Install it like any Omarchy plugin:

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/syndicalt/abus.git --enable

Or go to Super + Space, Setup, Plugins, Add. Heads up: third-party plugins run unsandboxed, so read the repo before you enable it.

My take

I run a team of bots, one job each, and the hardest part isn’t the bots. It’s how they hand work to each other and how I see what happened afterward. A durable mailbox with an audit trail is exactly the right shape for that. Local-first and over a private network is the right way to do it. It’s early, so I’d test it on a spare box first, but this is a space I’m going to watch closely.

Have a blessed day! And Happy Hacking!
