Hermes Agent v0.22.5, released October 22, is a patch release that rolls up about 81 merged PRs since v0.22.4 for the GitHub release (CLI and installers), the Microsoft Store app, Docker and Hermes Cloud. The window covers 231 non-merge commits across 804 changed files. The full curated notes will ship with v0.23.0, so this is the preview.
What’s in the window
- Nous sign-in was reworked: every sign-in is the plain device login, the free-tier guest hands over to your account, the result shows who signed in, and connectors offer sign-in instead of opening a guest.
- Pluggable delegation backends: route subagents by a model map or profile, and switch per session.
hermes import-agentand OpenClaw migration.hermes mcp serveand the Singularity backend are moving out of core into plugins, and setup offers the importer when it finds another agent.- Usage-window plan support, with plan gauges, limit cards and model-switch recovery.
- Plugin slash commands that can ask you to pick an option, plus desktop drag-to-pin in the sidebar and one-click plugin installs with tier badges.
- The Electron 44 upgrade, Pillow 13 and a batch of dependency security bumps.
- Smaller fixes:
hermes updateholds back a stable release it refuses instead of offering it, Windowshermes updateno longer sticks on the old launcher, it recovers paused gateways after a damaged.git, and long Claude DirectSDK answers are no longer cut off by the stall timer.
Updating
On the CLI run hermes update or re-run the installer. Docker and Hermes Cloud use nousresearch/hermes-agent:stable (or :latest). The Microsoft Store app updates through the Store, and the installer-based desktop app has no change in this release.
My take
It’s a big batch for a patch number, and the notes are intentionally thin until 0.23.0. The delegation backends and the importer are the interesting bits if you run more than one agent. I’d update after you’ve made a backup of your config, and then read the 0.23.0 notes when they arrive.
Have a blessed day! And Happy Hacking!
