This one stirred my spirit. Mozhda TV, which its founders call the first Afghan Christian television channel, started broadcasting by satellite on Saturday, October 24, Christian Today reports. It carries Christian programming into Afghanistan in the country’s own languages.
The details
Speakers at the launch called it the fruit of decades of prayer and a coalition of mission groups and Afghan Christian leaders. Shoaib Ebadi of the Afghanistan Bible Society said that “for the first time in history” an Afghan Christian satellite channel was going on air. Executive director Masoud Ghorbani preached the first sermon minutes later from Mark 6:34, where Jesus sees the crowd and has compassion “because they were like sheep without a shepherd.” His line: “Jesus Christ is the good shepherd of Afghanistan.”
My take
The Taliban can close doors, but they can’t close the sky. Decades of people praying in secret, and now the Gospel is beaming into living rooms. That’s the Holy Spirit moving where nobody can stop Him. Pray for the believers there, for the people watching in secret, and for protection over everyone behind this channel. “The word of God is not bound” (2 Timothy 2:9).
Have a blessed day! And Happy Hacking!
