Wine 11.20 is out as the latest bi-weekly development release (it landed October 16), Phoronix reports, as the project heads toward Wine 12.0 in early 2027.
What’s new
- ARM64EC work now includes replay debugging.
- XML validation improvements.
- CD-ROM support moves to Wine’s Mount Manager, part of a rework so NTDLL stops opening Unix devices directly.
- 24 bug fixes, touching everything from QuickBooks to Battlefield 1942 and Pure Pinball.
My take
Not flashy, but the plumbing work is what makes Wine 12 solid. Dev releases are for testers, so stick with your distro’s stable Wine for daily use.
