Since Daemonarchy put Omarchy on FreeBSD, I’ve been paying more attention to the BSD desktop side. GhostBSD 26.2 is out, and it’s a solid release.
What’s new
- Built on FreeBSD 15.1-RELEASE (26.1 was on 15.0).
- A new installer with new ZFS and network sections, and it can set up full-disk encryption with GELI.
- A smaller install ISO, Ctrl+Alt+T for a terminal in MATE, and USB HID devices supported by default.
- Still MATE on top of the XLibre server by default.
My take
Full-disk encryption in the installer is the big one for me. That used to be a “go read the handbook” job. If you’re BSD-curious, this is a friendly way in.
God Bless, and Happy hacking!
