OpenAI added iCloud Mail and iCloud Calendar plugins to ChatGPT, on all plans across web, desktop and iOS.
What it can do
- Calendar: read, schedule and update events that show up in the iPhone Calendar app or any app using iCloud Calendar.
- Mail: search and read iCloud Mail (@icloud.com, @me.com, @mac.com only, not Gmail or Outlook in the Mail app), manage messages and drafts, send email and look up iCloud contacts.
- It needs an app-specific password for each, and it also works with Dots, OpenAI’s proactive agent.
The privacy angle
That’s a lot of access, including the ability to send mail as you. Before you connect it, ask yourself if you’d hand those keys to a stranger. If you do try it, make dedicated app-specific passwords, label them, and revoke them from your Apple Account page the moment you stop using it. I’ve been waiting for Grok Bot to add that plugin also.
