Judge Edward Davila has made it official. Apple’s trade secrets lawsuit against two former employees, OpenAI and io Products goes to trial on July 19, 2027, at 9 a.m.
Background
Apple sued in July, accusing the defendants of using confidential product information to help OpenAI’s consumer hardware push. Apple recently won two procedural rounds for expedited discovery. The new order also sets the discovery, motion and pretrial deadlines.
My take
Nine months of discovery means we may learn a lot about the OpenAI device before it ships. Grab popcorn.
