For Halloween, Jonathan Cahn shared a testimony from a ministry trip to Cuba, in a message he calls “The Mystery of the Sorcerer & the Curse.”
The story
Cahn and a few believers felt drawn to San Germán, a city he’d heard was steeped in occult practice. Every ride fell through, but local Christians gathered anyway, expecting him. A pastor then told him about a powerful sorcerer who claimed spiritual authority over parts of the city. Cahn saw Acts 8 all over it: Simon the sorcerer amazed Samaria until Philip showed up preaching Christ. Months later a Cuban pastor reported revival in the region, with people bringing occult objects to churches to be destroyed as they gave their lives to Jesus.
My take
That last part is straight out of Acts 19:19, where new believers burned their sorcery scrolls in public. I’m not into fear on Halloween. Cahn’s own line is the point: “One believer with God is more powerful than a thousand witches and sorcerers.” Or as John put it, “the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). Tonight, don’t hide from the darkness. Pray for your street and be the light on it.
Jesus, let Your light push back the darkness in our neighborhoods tonight. Amen.
God Bless, and May the Source Be with You!
