Apple Maps Quietly Blurs NASA and Space Force Bases

Space Explored noticed that Apple Maps now blurs a bunch of NASA and Space Force sites, with no announcement from Apple.

What’s blurred

  • NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility and Stennis Space Center.
  • Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and Vandenberg Space Force Base.
  • Bomber bases like Whiteman (B-2) and Ellsworth (B-1B).

Big Navy bases like Pearl Harbor and Norfolk aren’t blurred, and Google Maps hasn’t blurred any of these.

My take

As a security guy, I get it. But when Google shows the same spots in full detail, Apple blurring them mostly just annoys the space nerds zooming in on launch pads. Me included.

God Bless, and Use the Source!
