Nate Graham’s monthly KDE Linux report is out, and KDE’s in-house reference distro is getting close to beta, Phoronix reports.
What changed in October
- The NTSYNC kernel module is on by default, which helps Windows games under Wine and Proton
- The installer got a basic slideshow
- wayland-protocols is now in the base image
Still to do
About 85% of the beta milestone is done. Left: swap support, a better update experience in Discover, KDE infrastructure changes, dual booting, and handling Flatpak crashes.
My take
NTSYNC by default is the kind of out-of-the-box choice that makes Linux gaming just work. Nice to see.
Review before you install: read the release notes yourself, back up your config, and try new versions somewhere you can afford to break first.
God Bless, and Use the Source!
