Please pray for Sherif Wagih Fahmi.
The Christian Post reports that the 41-year-old Coptic Christian engineer was arrested at his home in Alexandria, Egypt, on October 5. He’d objected online to Islam being taught in the country’s schools. Now he’s accused of speaking against Islam.
What happened
- National Security officers reportedly posed as gas company workers to get him to the door. His young daughter talked to them through the closed door.
- His sister says they had no warrant. The last thing he told his daughter was that he was going downstairs to pay the gas bill.
- He was held at a National Security office for over a week and has since been moved to a police station. Family can drop off food and clothes twice a week but can’t see him or call him.
How to pray
Pray for his release and his safety. Pray that the Holy Spirit gives him peace and the right words, just like Jesus promised (Luke 12:11-12). Pray for his wife and daughter waiting at home. And pray for the believers in Egypt who keep living for Jesus under that kind of pressure.
“Remember those who are in prison, as if you were there with them” (Hebrews 13:3).
God Bless, and Use the Source!
