An update to my iOS 27.3 beta 1 post. Here’s what the first macOS 27.3 developer beta adds on the Mac side. Public release is expected in December.
What’s new
- Live Activities in the menu bar on Apple silicon Macs without a Dynamic Island, for Music, Clock, Voice Memos, screen recording and third-party apps
- Markdown in Quick Look: hit Space on a .md file in Finder and you get real headings, bold, lists and links
- Security fix: it removes eMudhra’s compromised certificates from
/etc/ssl/cert.pem, so command-line tools stop trusting them
Apple has blocked those certs in Safari, Mail and its own frameworks since October 19. The gap was Terminal tools like curl. A macOS 27.2.1 with the same fix should come sooner. Apple has a support doc if you want to remove the certs by hand.
My take
Markdown in Quick Look is small but I’ll use it every day, especially with all the SKILL.md and README files my bots generate.
God Bless, and May the Source Be with You!
