For King + Country’s ‘Drummer Boy’ Puts Forgiveness on the Big Screen

For King + Country’s new film, Drummer Boy, hits theaters nationwide today, Nov. 6, Charisma reports. Joel and Ben Smallbone co-directed it, and Angel Studios is distributing.

The story

It goes back to the Revolutionary War, with two brothers on opposite sides. Through music and sacrifice, it digs into pride and the power of forgiveness. Charles Esten (Nashville, Outer Banks) plays Lord Balfour, a British aristocrat whose convictions get tangled up in bitterness.

In a CBN interview, Esten said the character shows what happens when you put personal loyalties above God’s call to love and forgive. His line that stuck with me: “Forgiveness is revolutionary.”

My take

We need that message. “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you” (Ephesians 4:32). Ask the Holy Spirit who you need to forgive, and who you need to ask forgiveness from. Then go do it.

God Bless, and May the Source Be with You!
