Moonshot’s Kimi team announced Kimi K3.1 Pro, billed as their most capable 3T-class open-weight model, with a 1-million-token context. A Highspeed sibling claims 2–3× the speed.
Where it runs
Available on Kimi.ai, Kimi Work, Kimi Code and the Kimi API. Full weights were slated for release by Nov. 4. Post-training compute is up vs K3, with joint RL across many domains aimed at coding, 3D, finance research and agent work.
My take
Another serious open-weight option in the long-context race. If you care about local or self-hosted agents, put it on the bake-off list next to whatever you’re already running.
Review before you install: read the release notes yourself, back up your config, and try new versions somewhere you can afford to break first.
God Bless, and May the Source Be with You!
