AMDGPU Lands HDMI 2.2 FRL Fixes for Linux 7.4

Phoronix: AMDGPU fixes headed for Linux 7.4 improve HDMI 2.2 Fixed Rate Link support. Linux 7.4 already enables HDMI 2.1 FRL by default; 2.2 adds 16, 20 and 24 Gbps per lane over four lanes.

The bug

Without the patches, a sink advertising HDMI 2.2 rates looked like “no FRL,” so the link trained far below what the display could do. Patch 1 teaches the DRM EDID parser the new rates; patch 2 maps them in amdgpu_dm.

My take

If you bought a shiny HDMI 2.2 panel for a Radeon box, this is the kernel series to watch.

God Bless, and Happy hacking!
