Tom Ballard (@tcballard) gave the Tesla Roadster the Tokyo Night treatment, and it turned into a fun little moment on X.
What happened
Tom posted “Tokyo Roadster” on October 16 and it passed 116,000 views. DHH quoted it the same day: “We clearly aren’t releasing Omarchy major versions frequently enough when SpaceX and Tesla can manage multiple, monumental launches worth celebrating between releases! FULL THRUST AHEAD!” About half an hour later Elon Musk replied to Tom’s post with two rocket emojis.
The theme
- Install:
omarchy theme install https://github.com/tcballard/omarchy-theme-tokyo-roadster. Switch back any time from the theme picker. - Colors come from Omarchy’s built-in Tokyo Night palette: blue for focus and activity, violet highlights, red saved for errors.
- It targets the Quattro branch, with overrides for the bar, launcher and menus.
- Ten wallpapers now ship (the X post teased eight), each a lossless PNG with an 8192-pixel long edge. Omarchy cycles through them.
My take
Tokyo Night is a classic, and this is a slick spin on it. If you want to see how themes like this are put together, I walked through it in How Omarchy Themes Work.
