Dr. Jeremiah J. Johnston told CBN News he used to be skeptical of the Shroud of Turin. Not anymore. He now calls it “the only artifact that we have outside of the Bible that gives evidence to the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus all in one artifact.”
What he said
Johnston points to the scientists he’s met who say the image has no pigment, dye or paint, and that nobody can explain how it was made. His bigger point is the Bible itself. Archaeologists working in Israel lean on the Gospels, Acts and Josephus to know where to dig, he says, because those books describe real people and real places.
My take
I love this stuff, but my faith doesn’t hang on a cloth. It hangs on an empty tomb and a living Savior I’ve met by the Spirit. “He is not here; he has risen, just as he said” (Matthew 28:6). If the Shroud gets a skeptic to open the Book, praise God.
God Bless, and Happy hacking!
