This testimony from Salt&Light is one I had to read twice. Dr. Joshua Brown is a Psychological and Brain Sciences professor at Indiana University. His wife, Dr. Candy Brown, is a scholar who has spent years studying prayer and healing. They were in Singapore this summer for the Asia Pentecostal Summit 2026, and they shared their story.
What happened
- Back in 2003, with Candy nine months pregnant, Joshua woke up seizing, arm in the air, eyes fixed, foaming at the mouth. Tests showed a brain tumor.
- He describes being set free from demonic oppression, and the seizures stopped.
- He joined a healing ministry while still waiting on his own miracle, and prayed for a blind man who could see within minutes. “Wait, wait, but I’m a scientist. But I know what I saw.”
- His tumor didn’t change for years. Then, after seven years, the doctors said, “All we see now is scar tissue. We don’t see the tumour.” That was 16 years ago and he’s been healthy since.
- As a scientist he went digging for other explanations and came away saying: “I can say with 99.8% certainty that I had a brain tumour, and God healed that.”
My take
Two things jump out at me. First, he kept praying for other people while his own healing hadn’t come yet. That’s faithfulness. He didn’t wait to get his miracle before he started carrying the Kingdom to somebody else.
Second, the healing took time. We love the instant ones, and they happen, but sometimes the Spirit works over years. Don’t quit praying because the MRI looks the same this month. Jesus still heals and still sets people free, and a careful scientist poking holes in his own story and still landing on “God did it” is a pretty strong word for the skeptics.
Have a blessed day! And Happy Hacking!
