Ligonier Ministries has a new app called Grow, with an AI “answer assistant” trained on 50 years of teaching from more than 800 teachers. What caught my eye is that they built it with a boundary.
“We don’t want it to take the place of a pastor or a local church elder or even a parent,” Ligonier’s Chris Larson told Fox News Digital. The assistant doesn’t pretend to be a person. If someone brings up suicide, it points them to crisis help and real people instead of trying to counsel them.
My take
I build bots for my own projects, and I love this. A tool should know what it’s for. AI can search a library fast. It can’t lay hands on the sick, weep with someone who’s grieving, or hear the Holy Spirit say “go call that person right now.”
The Spirit works through people. Paul didn’t say “let the scroll admonish you.” He said let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another (Colossians 3:16). Use the tools to study. Then go be the church to somebody.
God Bless, and May the Source Be with You!
