Apple’s New Home Lineup: HomeView, Apple TV 4K, HomePod mini 2 and Home Collection Specs

Apple dropped a whole home lineup on October 13: a new smart display called HomeView, a new Apple TV 4K, HomePod mini 2, and Apple Home Collection, a line of cameras, a lock and thermostats built with LG and Schneider Electric. Spec details are always scattered across Newsroom and tech-specs pages, so I pulled them into one place. Every figure below comes from Apple’s own pages, linked in each section.

Apple HomeView

This is the new one. It’s a 7-inch screen on a speaker base, or a flat wall-mount version, running Siri AI. It recognizes up to six people by face and gives each one their own Home Screen. It also has a Thread radio, so it can act as a smart home hub. Sources: tech specs and the Newsroom release.

Spec HomeView (tabletop) HomeView (Wall Mounted)

The PoE mount is the part I care about most. One cable for power and network to a wall panel is how I’d want to install a few of these. Apple also says camera and mic data is handled in Secure Exclaves on the A18, separate from the rest of the system.

Apple TV 4K (4th generation)

This one gets the A19, Wi-Fi 7, built-in far-field mics for hands-free Siri, and Gigabit Ethernet. Sources: tech specs and the Newsroom release.

Apple Home Collection (LG + Schneider Electric)

These are Apple-curated accessories built by partners. You set each one up with a tap on your iPhone and run it from the Home app, with no extra app or account. Apple says every device supports Thread, the cameras record up to 2.5K, and clips are stored for 10 days in iCloud+ with no separate camera subscription. The lock, thermostats and sensors are Matter compatible, and the lock supports Aliro and works locally. Apple didn’t publish full tech-spec pages for these yet, so the table sticks to what’s in the Newsroom release.

Device Key specs (per Apple) Price (U.S., from) Regions
LG Video Doorbell Wired Dual cameras: 2.5K front, full HD bottom. Spotlight. Chime plays through HomeView and HomePods $249.95 U.S., Canada, UK
LG Floodlight Cam Adaptive dual floodlights, low-light color night vision $399.95 U.S., Canada, UK
LG Outdoor Cam Plug-In Low-light color night vision, adjustable angle $299.95 U.S., Canada, UK
LG Indoor Cam Plug-In Tilts down to stop monitoring when someone’s home $199.95 U.S., Canada, UK
LG Smart Deadbolt Lock UWB hands-free unlock, PIN pad, backup key, door sensing, Matter, Aliro $349.95 U.S., Canada
LG Smart Thermostat Matter, on-device wire detection $199.95 U.S., Canada
Schneider Home Smart Thermostat Matter, on-device wire detection $199.95 U.S., Canada
LG Temperature Sensor / Schneider Home Room Sensor Temperature and humidity, Matter $39.95 each U.S., Canada

Availability starts in December, and Apple says some accessories won’t arrive until early 2027. Apple didn’t say which ones.

My take

For a network guy, the story here is Thread everywhere, plus Matter on the lock and climate gear. HomeView, Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini 2 all have Thread radios, and Apple says every Home Collection accessory supports Thread, so the mesh gets denser and leans less on Wi-Fi. HomeView with the PoE mount is the one I’m watching. I’ll wait for real-world reviews before I wall-mount anything.

What I couldn’t verify: dimensions, weight and radio details for the Home Collection devices (Apple only published Newsroom copy, no spec pages), which Home Collection accessories slip to early 2027, and pricing outside the U.S.
