A Christian Post column this week from the leader of Forge, a ministry that’s been preaching the Gospel for 40 years in more than 100 nations, calls out a lie a lot of us have swallowed: that sharing Jesus is the pastor’s job, or the evangelist’s with the microphone.
What he said
He starts in Matthew 9: “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” Jesus picked an everyday word, laborers, not a title. He points out that ordinary believers know people a pastor will never meet, and when they realize God put them there on purpose, the Gospel moves through relationships in a way no program can manufacture. He even notes it’s been 500 years since William Tyndale put the Bible into English so ordinary people could read it for themselves.
My take
Amen and amen. The same Holy Spirit who filled Peter on Pentecost lives in you, and Acts 1:8 says you’ll receive power to be His witnesses. No seminary degree required. Your coworker, your neighbor, the guy at the gym: that’s your mission field. Pray for boldness, listen for the nudge, and just tell what He’s done for you.
God Bless, and May the Source Be with You!
