Omarchy 4.5 RC1 Is Out: 50 Languages, Per-Monitor Workspaces, a Dock and One-Second Boots

The first feature release since Quattro is here in release-candidate form. Ryan Hughes tagged Omarchy v4.5.0-rc1 early this morning, and it pulls together a lot of what we’ve been watching land in the dev branch.

The highlights

  • 50 languages. Setup > Language (or omarchy language) switches the menu, desktop and notifications right away.
  • Per-monitor workspaces. Super + 1-0 goes to the workspaces on the monitor you’re on, and each bar only shows its own.
  • New notifications. Stacked by sender, snooze, Do Not Disturb, history, and action buttons and verification codes right on the card. It grew out of the Omapager plugin.
  • Floating workspaces with a dock. Super + L cycles tiling, scrolling and floating. Super + M minimizes to the dock.
  • Fast, quiet boot. The Limine menu wait drops from about six seconds to one.
  • Hardware. NVIDIA N1x and Snapdragon X laptops on the aarch64 kernel, and Omarchy Mac is merged into Omarchy itself, paving the way for Apple Silicon.
  • Fun stuff. Elsewhen world clock, video wallpapers, theme intros, and a Quake-style drop-down console on Super + Grave that makes a nice home for a terminal agent.

Agent and security bits I noticed

  • Grok is brought up to par with Claude and Codex in the agents panel, and you can switch between several Claude and Codex subscriptions.
  • Kimi and Ori join as default coding agents, and the Gemini agent is replaced by Antigravity.
  • TCP congestion control switches to BBR, and a batch of security fixes moves screen-recording state out of world-writable /tmp and hardens passwordless sudo expiry across suspend.

The ARM ISO is a first

  • Until now, Omarchy’s release script only built x86_64, and aarch64 images only existed as nightly edge builds. omarchy-iso PR #298, merged October 20, changed that, and RC1 is the first release to ship both ISOs, with SHA256 checksums in the notes.
  • The notes tie ARM to NVIDIA N1x laptops like the ASUS ProArt P14 and Dell XPS 16, and Snapdragon X laptops like the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x and ThinkPad T14s.
  • It’s not a Mac installer. Apple Silicon still keeps its boot setup in the Omarchy Mac packages.
  • DHH called it “like three releases in one!” No date yet for 4.5 final.

How to try it

On an existing machine: Update > Channel > RC, then Update > Omarchy. There are fresh x86_64 and aarch64 ISOs too. The team is clear that this is an RC: run it on a test box, or have a backup or snapshot you know how to roll back to before you touch your daily driver.

My take

This is a big one. Per-monitor workspaces alone are a big deal for anyone with more than one screen, and seeing Grok sit right next to Claude and Codex in the agents panel is great. If you’ve got a spare laptop, put the RC there first, and report anything that breaks on GitHub so 4.5 final ships clean.

Have a blessed day! And Happy Hacking!
