The Omarchy meetup map keeps growing, and Shenzhen just set the bar.
What happened
The Omarchy Shenzhen meetup with DHH on Saturday, October 17 drew more than 500 sign-ups and a “completely packed room,” according to organizer YourChinaGuy, who called it “the largest @omarchy meetup in the world.” It ran at the GOSIM conference venue and was co-hosted with OpenClaw Asia.
- The numbers climbed fast: 169 registrations when it was first announced, DHH saying “over 400 people” the day before, and 500+ by the end. Omarchy Central points out that’s a sign-up count. Nobody has shared an official door count.
- The format was an install party, with volunteers helping newcomers get Omarchy onto their laptops, plus a meetup with DHH.
- Yunjie Dai (@xdanger) wrote, “Crazy, 500 people meetup. @dhh is like a rock star.” DHH’s recap the next morning: “The energy was electric last night. A meetup the size of a conference!”
My take
The install-party part is what gets me. A conference talk gets people interested. Somebody sitting next to you while you get Hyprland running on your own laptop is what makes them stay. If there’s a meetup near you, Brisbane and Taipei have their first ones on October 20, and the Luma calendar has more.
Have a blessed day! And Happy Hacking!
