Rocket Lab’s 99th Mission Puts a Japanese Radar Satellite in Orbit

Rocket Lab flew its 99th mission on Nov. 2, Space.com reports. An Electron launched from New Zealand at 10:41 a.m. CT and deployed an iQPS synthetic aperture radar satellite at about 357 miles (575 km).

  • “The Sea God Surveys” was Rocket Lab’s 10th launch for iQPS, which is building a constellation of three dozen SAR satellites
  • SAR can see through clouds and at night
  • It was Electron’s 90th flight and 17th this year; the other nine missions were suborbital HASTE flights

My take

Launch number 100 is up next. Steady work.

God Bless, and Happy hacking!
