Update: Virgin Galactic’s First Delta Ship Is Named Apeiron

An update to yesterday’s post on Virgin Galactic’s Delta reveal.

The name

The first Delta-class space plane is Spaceship Apeiron, from the ancient Greek word for “boundless.” It beat Horizon, Explorer and Ascend in a public vote with entries from 83 countries. It’s heading from the Mesa, Arizona factory to Spaceport America on the VMS Eve carrier for avionics work and flight tests. Customer flights are targeted for mid-2027, and a second Delta ship is already being built. Virgin wants to fly each Delta ship up to eight times a month. About 675 people are still waiting with tickets, and seats now cost around $850,000.

My take

Great name. Now let’s see it fly.

God Bless, and Happy hacking!
