What’s New in GitHub Copilot CLI 1.0.101

Copilot CLI 1.0.101 came out October 20, with a long list of changes. Here are the highlights.

Highlights

  • Native structured output for dynamic workflow subagents on supported models.
  • A new assistedApprovalInstructions setting to guide Assisted Permissions decisions, and extension capability requests now need explicit approval.
  • On macOS, sandboxed commands can reach localhost TCP services when local access is on and no host filters apply.
  • Local models and loopback providers in providers.json no longer block Auto or your saved model.
  • Switching from GPT models to Gemini no longer fails on earlier custom tool calls, and Google models respect image limits to save tokens.
  • The first prompt no longer hangs when no model is selected. It asks you to pick one with /model.
  • Install Team-assigned plugins from Team-defined GitHub marketplaces.

My take

Lots of polish, and the local-model fix is the one I’ll notice most.

Have a blessed day! And Happy Hacking!
