DHH posted Omarchy running on the ASUS Zenbook A16 with the Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme on October 29. He calls it a “very enticing package for $1,899 with 48GB RAM / 512GB storage,” with a 3K OLED at 1.2 kg.
What works and what doesn’t
It isn’t done. “No webcam or bluetooth yet,” DHH wrote. The drivers are pulled from Windows and licensed, so Omarchy needs Qualcomm and ASUS on board to ship them.
Sound is first. PR #17039 adds speaker tuning with ASUS’s voicing and was merged into the quattro branch late on October 29. The PR itself says it’s “clearly better than the raw speakers” but still behind Windows.
My take
Snapdragon laptops on Omarchy keep getting closer. If ASUS and Qualcomm play ball, this could be a great ARM Linux machine.
God Bless, and Happy hacking!
