Linux Mint’s October update covers what’s coming in Mint 27, due around Christmas.
What’s coming
- Hibernation is back as an option in the System Administration tool, after Ubuntu dropped it from the supported sleep modes.
- Nemo gets an image preview pane.
- Superlight: a new system monitor for CPU, RAM, GPU, network, storage, temperatures and fan speeds.
- Velocity: a new terminal emulator.
- Unfold: a small archive manager.
My take
Bringing hibernation back is very Mint: listen to users, even when upstream walks away. Another terminal and another system monitor? Sure. Mint’s own apps tend to be polished and consistent. Mint is still the distro I’d hand to a Windows refugee.
God Bless, and Happy hacking!
