MPV 0.42 is out, almost a year after 0.41, Phoronix reports.
- Wayland session management and direct Wayland color management, no longer relying on Vulkan for it
- Better HDR: BT.2100 mapping, scRGB, improved colorspace signaling on DRM, and better Dolby Vision Profile 7
- Menu navigation for DVD-Video, Blu-ray HDMV and BD-J, DVD-Audio playback, and direct ISO playback
- A libcurl network backend for HTTP/2 and HTTP/3, SRV3 YouTube subtitles, and an AMD frame rate conversion filter
My take
MPV is a great fit for an Omarchy setup, and the Wayland HDR work is the big one. Watch for it in the Arch repos.
God Bless, and May the Source Be with You!
