Thinking Machines Lab introduced Inkling 2 Small on Nov. 5: a 594B-parameter MoE with 17B active, image input and variable effort. They cite a 31 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, well above their first generation.
Availability
Closed weights on Tinker for now, with fine-tuning and sampling there. Full weights are planned under Apache 2.0 next week after external safety testing. Try it on Tinker Playground today.
My take
Big MoE, open-weight promise, coding and vision focus. Worth a look once the Apache dump lands—verify the license and the eval claims yourself.
Review before you install: read the release notes yourself, back up your config, and try new versions somewhere you can afford to break first.
