Factory announced Nov. 4 that HumanLayer is joining them. Dex Horthy and Kyle Mistele built HumanLayer around coding-agent collaboration and the Research/Plan/Implement skill pack that went viral in 2025.
User path
The HumanLayer platform stays up during a transition. Users can export data, migrate to Factory, or self-host the open-sourced HumanLayer. Factory says multiplayer tasks and in-app collaboration on agent plans and specs are coming soon.
My take
Acquisitions that open-source the thing and give you a way out earn more trust than ones that flip a kill switch. Still: export your data before you need to.
