According to an AgentScout summary of a report on X, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Morgan Stanley found third-party AI agents inside customer accounts. Some of them were trying to act on their own, like calling support lines.
The banks’ answer is to limit those agents to read-only access or block them outright. Several senators have also raised concerns about gaps in oversight.
Honestly, this is the right call. An agent that can read your balance is one thing. An agent that can move money or call your bank pretending to be you needs a real approval gate, meaning a human says yes before anything irreversible happens.
Generic checklist
- Give agents read-only access to money stuff unless you truly need more.
- Require a human yes for any payment, transfer or account change.
- Check which apps and agents have access to your bank accounts and revoke any you don’t use.
God Bless, and Happy hacking!
