Update: UniteUS at App State, Jericho Marches, 40 Days of Fasting and an Atheist in the Water

I already wrote about UniteUS at App State in 700 Decisions at App State: UniteUS and the Spirit on Campus. Now founder Tonya Prewett has told K-LOVE/Air1 what happened before and during that night, and it lit me up all over again.

They prayed the walls down

The local student team did 40 days of prayer and fasting leading up to the event, with Jericho marches around the arena the whole time. On event day they walked it seven times and shouted, straight out of Joshua 6. Prewett’s words: “they took the city.” More students showed up than expected, and many “got free from so many different things.”

That’s the pattern I keep seeing in Scripture. Prayer and fasting come first, then the Spirit moves (Acts 13:2-3). No hype machine. Just hungry kids on their faces.

An atheist in the baptism water

During the baptisms, a young woman sat down in the water and said she’d been an atheist her whole life and had never believed in Jesus. She walked into the arena that night, heard the gospel, and “just had to give my life to Jesus.” Holy Spirit, do it again!

Prewett says UniteUS just hit its 33rd event since it started with prayer at Auburn in September 2023, and every campus is different because God moves differently on each one. South Alabama in Mobile was the next stop. Keep praying for these students, that the fire lasts past the arena lights.

God Bless, and May the Source Be with You!
