Cursor’s latest changelog adds voice chat: a realtime, two-way call with your agents.
How it works
- It works in the Agents Window, the IDE, on the web and in Cursor for iOS. When the agent is idle and the input box is empty, hit the waveform “Start voice chat” button.
- On iOS you can say “Hey Siri, call Cursor,” and mute or hang up from the Lock Screen.
- The voice agent hands coding work to your chat agent and keeps talking while it runs. You can ask what changed in a diff, check on a run, or search earlier messages.
- The coding agent speaks short progress notes and a brief answer when it’s done.
- It runs on Grok Voice from SpaceXSI, with voices like Ara, Eve, Leo, Rex and Sal. With Privacy Mode on, it runs with zero data retention.
- Dictation (formerly Voice Mode) is still there, with Cmd+Shift+Space in the IDE.
My take
Being able to ask “what are you doing?” out loud while an agent grinds is a nice upgrade. Turn on Privacy Mode if you’re talking about anything sensitive.
Review before you install: read the release notes yourself, back up your config, and try new versions somewhere you can afford to break first.
God Bless, and Use the Source!
