GIMP 3.2.8 is out with a bunch of refinements and a lot of security fixes.
What’s new
- Color pickers show finer color changes
- Bigger HEIF images now load
- A new GUI test suite to catch regressions, faster shutdown when fonts are still loading, and better AppImage support
- Security fixes from “a large quantity of security reports” thanks to better scanning tools
My take
GIMP says it’s less scary than it sounds. Most reports are old image plug-ins trusting the size info in a file too much, which can crash the plug-in, not GIMP. Still, if you open images from strangers, update.
Review before you install: read the release notes yourself, back up your config, and try new versions somewhere you can afford to break first.
God Bless, and Happy hacking!
