Next Omarchy: A Root-Image Installer, a Jade Horse Theme, and Maybe Local Coding Models

The Quattro development branch had a busy weekend, per Omarchy Upstream and Omarchy Central. These are dev-branch changes, not a stable release yet.

What landed

  • Root-image installer (merged): instead of installing roughly 940 packages one by one, the ISO now deploys a prebuilt root image and adds machine-specific packages on top. Whole-disk installs also tear down old RAID and LVM setups before partitioning.
  • Jade Horse theme (merged): DHH swapped the bundled Osaka Jade for Jade Horse, “a jade green Year of the Horse theme” with three horse wallpapers. If you’re on Osaka Jade, you keep your copy. Want it now? omarchy theme install https://github.com/dhh/omarchy-jade-horse-theme
  • Fewer sudo prompts (merged): updates keep one authorization through AUR builds and the boot check, then revoke it.

What’s proposed

DHH opened a PR to add local coding models through the agents panel. The first recipe targets NVIDIA N1X and GB10 machines with Qwen3.8 27B and a 200k context, running under rootless Podman. He reports it working on a 64 GB N1X laptop, but removal, model switching and fresh installs are still untested.

My take

A faster installer is great, but local coding models as a menu item is the one I’m watching. That’s my kind of homelab.

God Bless, and May the Source Be with You!
