Most people know Oct 31 for costumes. Church history remembers it for something bigger.
Two Octobers that changed everything
On Oct 31, 1517, Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the church door in Wittenberg. He meant to start a debate. God used it to spark the Reformation, and the printing press carried it across Europe. People got the Word back in their own hands.
On Oct 31, 1904, Evan Roberts went home to Wales after praying for revival for years and led a small meeting where seventeen people gave their lives to Christ. That was the start of the Welsh Revival. More than 100,000 people were saved within six months, and many see it as a forerunner of Azusa Street.
My take
I don’t think a date has magic in it. But God loves to answer people who keep asking. “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people” (Acts 2:17). That promise wasn’t used up in 1517 or 1904. So this Saturday, let’s ask again: Holy Spirit, wake up Your Church. Start with me.
God Bless, and Use the Source!
