Yaël Ossowski open-sourced omaPGP on October 24, a plugin that adds a lock icon to the Omarchy bar for reading, writing, encrypting, decrypting, signing and verifying PGP text, Omarchy Central reports.
Why I like the design
- It does no crypto itself. It’s a thin layer over your local GnuPG keyring.
- gpg runs with keyserver lookups and auto key import turned off, and the plugin makes no network requests.
- Passphrases stay with GnuPG’s agent and pinentry. Copied plaintext is cleared from the clipboard after 45 seconds by default.
The README is honest: it’s early-stage software, and Omarchy plugins run unsandboxed inside the shared shell.
Review before you install: this is third-party, community software. Read the scripts and README yourself before running anything, and only try it on hardware you can afford to wipe.
My take
Local-only, no keyserver chatter, clipboard cleanup. That’s the right privacy posture. Just remember the unsandboxed part before you trust it with anything sensitive.
