Omarchy Gets Super+Shift+S for Screenshots

Small change, big quality-of-life win, and it’s one of a stack of features queued for the next Omarchy along with per-monitor workspaces and Snapdragon video decoding. It’s not in 4.0.5. The next Omarchy release takes a screenshot with Super+Shift+S. The PR from @TripleU613 was merged into the quattro branch on October 16.

The reasoning makes sense. Print Screen is awkward or missing on a lot of hardware. Laptops bury it behind Fn, and Apple keyboards, Logitech MX Keys and many compact boards don’t have one at all. Super+Shift+S is the chord Windows folks already know, and on a Mac keyboard it lands on Cmd+Shift+S.

  • Print Screen still works exactly as before. Both run the same omarchy-capture-screenshot and open the Omasnap overlay (region, window, full monitor, scrolling).
  • Google Maps used to live on Super+Shift+S, so that web app moves to Super+Shift+Alt+S.
  • Super+Ctrl+C still opens the whole capture menu.
  • Existing user configs are not migrated, so if you’ve customized your bindings, add it yourself.

I’m all for this. It’s one less thing to relearn for anyone coming over from Windows or Mac.

Happy Hacking!
