JPDoesDev’s Omarchy Magnifier is an MIT plugin built for low vision: 1–10× zoom (Hyprland’s ceiling), colour inversion, per-monitor zoom memory, and a mouse lock for multi-monitor desks. Needs Omarchy 4 with Lua Hyprland config and Hyprland ≥0.56. No external deps, no sudo. Omarchy Central covered it October 15.
Install path
Two steps from the README: omarchy plugin add https://github.com/JPDoesDev/omarchy-magnifier --enable, then run the plugin’s install.sh. Defaults include Ctrl+Alt+scroll (or =/−) for zoom, Ctrl+Alt+Z for a 300% preset, Ctrl+Alt+I for inversion, and Super+Ctrl+M for the mouse lock. Zoom and frozen views survive a Hyprland reload; they do not survive reboot.
Be honest about cost: while a monitor is “frozen” magnified, Hyprland keeps rendering full frames — more GPU and battery. That is the right trade for accessibility; just know it before you leave it on overnight on a laptop.
Why it matters
Accessibility plugins that install like first-class Omarchy extensions are how a tiling distro stops being a vision-tax. If you need magnification daily, try this before bolting on a random Wayland experiment. File issues upstream when a hotkey fights your muscle memory.
Accessibility is not a niche plugin category if you want Omarchy in churches, schools, and aging relative households. Magnifier belonging in omarchy plugin add is how that culture gets built — one MIT repo at a time.
Default max zoom of 10× matches Hyprland’s ceiling — if you need more, that is a compositor limit conversation, not a plugin bug. Read the README once; the hotkey table is short on purpose.
Have a blessed day!
